THREAD-JACKING: If it's a public post, go right ahead! Please talk to me before having your character hack a private conversation, or having them walk up and join in when a private chat is happening.

FOURTH WALLING / CANON PUNCTURE: Go right ahead. He already knows that there's books and songs about him -- he's famous back home.

BACKTAGGING: I will backtag forever. Please note though that I don't like to start a new thread/event when the old one isn't complete, so at a certain point I'll ask to handwave the remainder of a scene if it's taking a long time to wrap up.

AVOIDED TOPICS: I'm good with any topics.

PREFERRED GENDER PRONOUN: she/they

IC CHARACTERISTICS:
CURRENT CANON POINT: Vash is from the Trigun manga, a couple months after the series ended (post Trimax 14)

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Vash is tall (about 6') and very muscular, although he usually dresses to disguise that fact somewhat. He'll typically be wearing a floor-length red coat over a leather body suit that's held on with a frankly ridiculous number of buckles, plus a glove on his left (artificial) hand. (His left arm is a fully functional prosthetic that joins just below the shoulder, but he will keep that a secret for as long as possible.) He shows very little skin, in large part because he's heavily scarred. He's not ashamed of his scars, but when people see them they tend to want to talk about them, and most of Vash's scars have sad stories attached, so it's easier to just avoid that talk altogether.

There's a very large .45 strapped to his hip, but it's usually covered by his coat.

His icons show him with a range of hair colors but in this game his hair is entirely jet black, save for just a few blond hairs near his right temple. His skin is fair, but it takes a lot of sun or wind for it to redden. His eyes are very bright blue.

Vash will be doing his utmost to stay positive and be a good example, especially in the first few weeks on the Barge, so his demeanor will usually be perky, silly, teasing, cheerful, and he'll almost always be smiling. He's a bit of a long-limbed goofball, so expect an amount of flailing, dramatic posing, and general physical clowning around. Please note that he's much less touchy with women than with men because he doesn't want to come off as a creep. Little kids of any gender (or species, for that matter!) are welcome to knock him to the ground and sit on him -- he really loves playing with kids on their level, and is happy to be the bad guy (or henchman) in whatever game they want to play!

He's prone to humming quietly when he works, talking to himself (sometimes in French), and he's very tactile -- he'll touch the walls and the table and poke people, or drape his arm around their shoulders, as a way to keep himself grounded in the here and now.

He smells like whatever soap and shampoo he's been provided, a little like old sweat (hopefully not too offensively), like leather and sun-baked linen and, sometimes, like an approaching thunderstorm. Every now and then he'll smell like cigarette smoke, but this is rare.

He's not human but he looks human, all his parts work like human parts (he eats, he sweats, he bleeds), and he will probably never come out and tell anyone that he's not human. He used to have the ability to reform his human body on a molecular level into a power generator (like a person-sized nuclear reactor, only without the radiation) but his batteries are almost fully drained. In a combat situation where somebody else is being threatened he might smell a little like ozone and there might be just a hint of static in the air, but mostly he's just a plain ordinary human.

DEMEANOR: He's a big goof! He's loud and friendly and silly and when he doesn't get his way he pouts like a little kid. He can be petty, mocking but not mean, and he's incredibly stubborn. He's quick to offer assistance and will always drop what he's doing to give somebody else a hand. If he's up on deck late at night all that will fall away and he'll be quiet, somber, painfully and obviously sad, but don't expect him to talk about it. He's still deep in mourning for his It's Complicated and his brother, he committed an unforgiveable crime not that long ago, and he doesn't think he can ever return to his world. Sometimes that's all going to catch up to him and the weight of all that grief will knock him down for awhile. Mostly, though, he's going to be the most cheerful chatterbox on the ship!

ABILITIES: He's much stronger and much faster than he really should be -- he's basically a superhero -- and his aim is uncanny. He can also do a little bit of just about everything -- he can play guitar a bit, piano a bit, he can fix a toaster or a radiator, he's good at drawing and has a pleasant singing voice, he counts cards at poker and hopefully it won't come up on the Barge that he can go a long time without food or water.

MEDICAL INFORMATION: Vash will be avoiding the infirmary, thank you. If he needs to visit, or if somebody wants to get a peek at his medical records, we can talk then about what's on file for him.

CABIN INFORMATION: The door looks like it came from a motel -- it's solid wood, with chipped paint, a tarnished brass doorknob, and the door number is engraved on a small plate in the center of the door. Inside the motel vibes persist -- the floor is short, stained carpeting in a dreary gray, the walls have that slick painted-too-many-times feel, the curtains are dusty and thin, and the bedframe squeaks at the slightest movement. There's no window on the other side of those curtains, just a panel light that dims and brightens in imitation of daylight. The tiny en suite has a tiny shower, with a cracked mirror hanging over the rust-stained sink.

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: There's jokes that Vash won't laugh at, like edgy humor dead baby jokes, and he'll be rude to whoever thinks they're appropriate. He has no patience for bullies, and will avoid anyone obviously clergy.

IC PERMISSIONS:

MENTAL: Absolutely come read his mind! Let me know that's a thing your character can do and I'll include stuff in the narrative for your character to pick up on.

MIMICRY: He'd be weirded out by it, but I'm good with it!

VIOLENCE: YES PLEASE please fight him. I love writing combat.

MAGIC: Probably. Talk to me first, but chances are the answer is yes.

DEBATE: Yes, absolutely argue with him!

OTHER / NOTES: Please note that Vash is a deeply traumatized alcoholic who is quick to use violence to resolve conflicts. He's fun and funny when drunk, but his relationship with alcohol is still incredibly unhealthy. If you would rather not have this come up in our threads just let me know and I'm happy to skip it.
